Waterproofing a Basement in Hudson Falls, NY

A homeowner in Hudson Falls, NY called our office stating that water leaks into their basement through cracks in the floor as well as where the floor and wall meet on two sides of the basement. They currently have a sump pump installed but no water is directed there, so it is of no help. The homeowner scheduled their free estimate and met with one of our trained waterproofing specialists to discover what could be done.

The homeowner decided to upgrade their current sump system to our TripleSafe system and install our WaterGuard french drain system around the perimeter of the basement to guide the water into the sump pit. They now can be assured that their basement will stay dry!

Mill Creek Flooring Installation in Fort Edward, NY

A homeowner in Fort Edward, NY was in the process of finishing their basement and wanted to ensure that the flooring they installed was appropriate for a basement environment. The home was built on a high water table and the previous homeowner constantly had a dehumidifier running. They reached out to Adirondack Basement Systems for a free estimate with one of our certified basement specialists. We sent our design specialist Jon Roz to discuss flooring with the homeowner. After going through our options, the homeowner opted for our Mill Creek Faux Wood flooring in Mahogany. These faux wood panels don't require nails or adhesives and are made of inorganic materials that are waterproof and mold resistant.

Encapsulating a Crawlspace in Hudson Falls, NY

A homeowner in Hudson Falls, NY contacted Adirondack Basement Systems about encapsulating their crawlspace. The space was damp and had a musty odor that would come up into the home at times. They were also worried about critters making a home in their crawlspace. We sent one of our crawlspace specialists to do a thorough inspection and provide a free written estimate for encapsulating and waterproofing. CleanSpace is a durable, waterproof, and non-organic vapor barrier. It will never support mold-growth which means the musty odor will vanish. A SmartSump sump pump was decided on in order to drain any water in the crawlspace out and away from the home. The SmartSump is a sump pump that is custom engineered for crawlspaces. With this system in place, the homeowners are guaranteed to have a clean crawlspace!

Foundation Repair in Hudson Falls, NY

This customer in Hudson Falls contacted us with worries about his basement walls buckling. We sent out Dave Lacroix, our Certified Design Specialist, to see what was going on in the home.

Cracked or buckling walls can become a severe problem if they aren't fixed, and they can become worse over time. This is why, for this project, we decided to install our CarbonArmor system with ArmorLock. The CarbonArmor system is black stripes of fiber-reinforced polymers that fit tightly against your basement wall. The stripes are 10-times stronger than steel, and will stabilize your basement walls! After the CarbonArmor is installed, we then install the ArmorLock. The ArmorLock secures the CarbonArmor straps to your floor, which allows for quick stabilization, and another anchor point. Our CarbonArmor and ArmorLock system uses similar technology to the U.S. Department of Defense, which they use to reinforce large structures.

Now, our customer doesn't have to worry about the structural integrity of his home anymore. If you think you are having a similar issue, feel free to contact us for a free estimate!

Waterproofing in Hudson Falls, NY

We had a customer in Hudson Falls contact us with an inquiry for new drainage and sump pump options for the commercial property he owns. We sent out our Design Specialist, Dean Gaetano, to take a look around, and recommend the best option for this property.

He decided to install our WaterGuard drainage system. Our WaterGuard system is designed to catch water seepage through walls and any leaks along the wall and floor joint. This will ensure that the property has the same drainage system throughout, and makes it easier to identify if an issue occurred. The benefit of our patented waterproofing system is that it is hidden very well, meaning most people wouldn't even notice it. Along with the drainage system, we installed our WaterGuard Port, allowing for easy access to the system, and our TrenchDrain, which captures water at doorways, stairways, and other potential openings for water to seep in through. These three products work seamlessly together and allow for the systems to function together in unison.

He loved all of the work that was completed and thanked us for making the property dry and safe for the people inside. Whether it is commercial, or residential property, we are here to help! Feel free to call us for a free estimate.

Unstable Foundation Walls in Argyle, NY

This customer was experiencing structural issues in their home, which could be traced down to the basement. Sizable cracks were visible splintering through the cement bricks of the basement walls. Cracks like this are a sign of an unstable foundation, so it is important to act as soon as possible to prevent serious, permanent damage. The best course of action to repair and protect the walls is to install CarbonArmorCarbonArmor is made of fiber-reinforced polymers that are ten times stronger than steel while maintaining the proper flexibility to contour securely to the basement walls. This product is fast and effective, providing a reliable solution to stabilize bowing or leaning foundation walls. Playing a complimentary role to the CarbonArmor is a simple WallDefense system whose job it is to fix and protect the walls as well. This duo is the perfect answer for structural support.

Bowing Wall Correction in Whitehall, NY

With older houses, it’s typically only a matter of time before walls begin to bow or buckle. This homeowner was unfortunately dealing with this problem and also wanted to upgrade their basement window. Luckily, we do both! The first step was to survey the area and determine where to install the PowerBraces—the most effective product to halt bowing walls and provide much-needed support. While we were at it, measurements of the window opening were also carefully taken so the custom-made EverLast window could get made. Once all the measurements were taken and the locations determined, we began installation. The PowerBraces are clean-looking, rust-resistant, and noninvasive, requiring no outside excavation. They also can be tightened over time to help potentially straighten the walls back to their original placement. Finally, we put in the EverLast window, Sunhouse base, and cover to provide a nicer look to the basement, both inside and out, all while helping to keep moisture away and heat from escaping; a great choice for both the eyes and the pocket!

Air Quality Improvement in Fort Edward, NY

The key to good, healthy air quality in your home is the basement or crawl space. If those areas aren’t properly tended to, it could mean trouble for the rest of the house. This homeowner had concerns about the health of their basement, so they called us in to take a look around and find anything that could use improvement. After a thorough inspection, our design specialist recommended two primary products that the homeowner ended up going with: a TripleSafe Sump System and a SaniDry Sedona.

The SaniDry Sedona is a great dehumidifier that is small enough to fit in virtually any basement or crawl space, but also is one of the most efficient products on the market at combating humidity. With this product installed, not only is the basement’s air quality improved, but so is the rest of the house's. However, there was still more to do to solve the moisture problem. Next in the installation process came the TripleSafeFirst, a proper location for the pump is determined. Once that is settled on, we headed outside to measure a safe distance away from the house for the LawnScape Outlet. While yard space is often limited, it’s important for the LawnScape Outlet to be placed far enough from the house and at a location where the water won’t just flow right back into the house. With all the measurements checked carefully, it was time to install! Our team took care with the project, not cutting any corners to ensure each product will function at its highest potential. At the same time, we don’t want to keep the customer waiting and worrying. Thankfully, each product we have is relatively quick and easy to install, providing peace of mind to the homeowner sooner rather than later.

PowerBrace System in Argyle, NY

This homeowner made the unfortunate discovery that their basement walls were not only cracking but bowing as well. Thankfully, after our design specialist surveyed the walls, it was decided that no serious work would be needed. It would only take one product to solve the issue: PowerBraces

The PowerBrace system is a foundation wall repair system designed to stabilize failing basement walls and even has the potential to straighten the buckling or tilting walls over time, so not only is this patented product able to prevent the condition from worsening, but it also has the ability to fix it. Another great thing about the PowerBrace system is that installation wasn't a hassle. No outside excavation warequired and it never is. What we did first was take measurements to know what size PowerBraces we’d need then mark along the walls where they would be placed, which also helps us figure out how many we’d need. Then, when it was time for installation, all we had to do was go in, adjust the PowerBraces to fit the wall snug and securely, attach them, and that was it; minimal disruption for a super helpful product. All the components of the PowerBrace system are zinc-coated for rust resistance and have the ability to be tightened, which helps straighten the walls over time.

PowerBrace is perfect for putting a stop to your bowing walls and keeping the condition of your foundation from reaching a level that would require serious, expensive repairs.

Sagging Crawl Space Ceiling in Huletts Landing, NY

This crawl space was suffering from some sagging ceiling and support beams, which not only worsened the condition of the crawl space but the rest of the house as well. The crawl space is kind of like the heart of the house, supporting the home and providing it with clean air. If the crawl space is in trouble, then so is the rest of the house. This homeowner wanted to alleviate some of the pressure that the crawl space endured, so they called on us to lend a hand. We went in, looked over every inch of the crawl space carefully and recommended a series of SmartJacks to help boost the ceiling and take some of the weight off it.

The installation process begins with surveying and measuring. It’s vital to know how high the ceiling is so the SmartJacks with the right height are ordered. Also, the steel piers can’t just be placed haphazardly throughout the crawl space, they need to be installed in optimal locations where they will most effectively support the sinking ceiling. In order to do this, we examined the extent of the sagging beams and then marked off where each SmartJack would go. There were some older support beams scattered around, but they were old, worn, and not in the proper locations, so those had to be removed just before installation to prevent any more damage. With that completed, the prep stage was complete and all that was left was to install. SmartJacks are a relatively easy install process tgat don’t require any overwhelming work. For this home, five SmartJacks were used and aligned with the markers we placed earlier. We then adjusted them to the precise height of the ceiling, fastened them securely to the floor, and the job was done! The SmartJacks will not only help support the ceiling and foundation but also have the opportunity to raise them back to the proper height thanks to their ability to be adjusted over time.

Stone Foundation Boost in Granville, NY

This house was on the older side, as evident by the stone foundation. This style was quite common in the early 1900s, as well as in the centuries prior. Nowadays, it is clear that stone foundations are not sustainable and pose many problems to a home’s health. This basement had 20-30 feet of bowing walls which were causing issues for the rest of the house and threatened with worse consequences if not addressed. Luckily, we had just the product to give the walls some support and boost the foundation back to a sustainable level.

The product we used for this job and many other similar ones was the PowerBrace System.  We surveyed the basement, analyzing where the walls had bowed the most and by how much. Then, we marked off precise locations for where to install them, doing so in a way that would allow the weight of the foundation to be evenly distributed. Once the proper size PowerBraces arrived, we cut them to fit perfectly with the walls since no two homes are the same. Then, it was time to put them in! What’s great about PowerBraces is they are a highly effective foundation solution that doesn’t require any excavation or other over the top processes. All we had to do was attach them to the walls in their pre-marked locations and secure them in place. PowerBraces are made of a zinc material so they are water resistant and highly durable. PowerBraces are not only super strong and effective at keeping the walls from bowing any further, but they also have the ability to be tightened and correct the displaced walls back to their original position! PowerBraces are a great, easy solution to buckling walls, able to help old basements get a fresh boost!

Strong, Sturdy Support Beams and Piers in Hudson Falls, NY

This foundation had a couple of issues. Above the basement, the floors were bouncy and drooping. In the basement itself, there were a number of cracks between the blocks of the foundation. A design specialist went out and looked at both areas of concern, as well as other spots in the basement that may have been overlooked. It’s important to look at the basement and foundation from a wide lens as opposed to focusing merely on the pre-established problems because that is how things get missed and the problem gets worse. After the walkthrough, the design specialist mapped out a plan and presented it to the homeowner. Once an agreement was reached, the job was passed off to the installation team and they got to work.

The first step was getting support for the floors. To prevent any further sagging, a series of SmartJacks were installed and secured to the floor and pre-existing support beam on the ceiling. SmartJacks are high-capacity, fully adjustable steel piers that stop settling and return floors back to a sturdy position. SmartJacks gently put pressure on the horizontal support beam spanning the basement ceiling, preventing further displacement and lifting the floor up without causing damage on the way up. The SmartJacks were custom ordered and shaved to perfectly fit this basement, double checked by our team to ensure everything was safe and secure. Next, PowerBraces were brought in and secured in an evenly-spaced line along the bowing walls. PowerBraces keep the walls from buckling further, taking much of the load off the pre-existing foundation. PowerBraces are strong and reliable support beams, more than capable of stabilizing the foundation without any issues! Together, these two products provide immense relief to the home’s foundation and the customer’s mind!

Waterproofing System and Air Purifier in Whitehall, NY

Water troubles are a year-round issue, so it’s vital that the basement is properly protected so it can stay dry during all four seasons. In the case of this home, there was very little protection to begin with, so water had no issues getting in. To remedy this situation, we installed one of our waterproofing systems paired with an Aspen air purifier as an added bonus. On the waterproofing front, a TripleSafe sump pump is at the heart of the system; a powerful product with three levels of power that automatically kick on when it senses large amounts of water coming in. In the case of power outages, the TripleSafe has a backup battery that keeps it running. Connected to the system, a series of WaterGuard is at the base of the walls, collecting any water that penetrates the walls from the outside soil. TrenchDrain picks up where the WaterGuard leaves off when the wall cannot be accessed due to boilers or other equipment being in the way. This system directs the water to the TripleSafe where it’s sent out and away from the home. To keep this process running even in the winter, the IceGuard installed on the outside of the house keeps the water from freezing and causing backups or burst pipes. Thanks to the system, water troubles are now a thing of the past!

TripleSafe installation in Putnam Station, NY

A Putnam Station homeowner had been living with water coming into his basement every time there was a heavy rainfall. He was starting to get tired of having to pump the water out of his basement. After looking over our website, he decided it was best to call Adirondack Basement Systems. We were more than happy to help him with setting up an appointment for a design specialist to come to his house to give a free estimate on how to stop his water problems.

Once the sales rep went out to see what could be done, a sump pump was the best option for this home. After going over the different pumps that we offer, the TripleSafe sump pump sounded the most efficient and what this homeowner was looking for. It was in no doubt that getting on the schedule to install this was the next step. After the install, this homeowner no longer has to pump out the water by himself and can leave it in the hands of the TripleSafe sump pump.

Crawl Space Encapsulation in Hudson Falls NY

A homeowner from Hudson Falls NY reached out to Adirondack Basement Systems to see if we could help her with her crawl space problems. She stated that the area that is above her crawl space was getting very cold and wet due to the moisture that was getting into the crawl space. We were more than happy to send out Design Specialist, Tonya to see if she could assess this issue for this customer. On the day of the estimate, Tonya suggested that the homeowner do a full encapsulation of her crawl space which will help the moisture from entering the home and help keep the coldness down. On the day of the install, Brandon and crew installed 370 square feet of CleanSpace to the crawlspace along with 100 square feet of SilverGlo and 50 feet of Rim Joist insulation. This Hudson Falls homeowner now can have a peace of mind and not have to worry about the coldness and wetness in her home.

Crawl Space Encapsulation in Greenwich, NY

A homeowner in Greenwich, NY contacted Adirondack Basement Systems in need to address the issues happening in his basement. He was having a constant battle with a very humid and wet basement that he wanted to have a long lasting fix. On the day of the scheduled appointment, David, went out to the home to see what was happening in the basement. After inspecting and coming up with a solution for the homeowner, the appointment quickly turned into a job for Brandon and his install crew. Brandon and his crew installed 403 feet of drainage matting under a CleanSpace vapor barrier. The vapor barrier will protect the space from future moisture damage. After the job was completed, this crawl space will be dry and protected from any water damage that happens again!

PowerBrace Wall Support in Shushan, NY

Recently, in Shushan, NY, we had the privilege of helping a homeowner ease concerns about a failing foundation. Understanding the nerve wrecking effects of bowing basement walls and a crumbling foundation, our Customer Care team immediately sent a Design Specialist to evaluate the damage. They found that the root cause was pressure exerted on the walls finally taking its toll. After a comprehensive diagnosis, we recommended our PoweBrace system.

PowerBrace is a robust, adjustable, and permanently installed solution designed to shore up bowing walls and provide potential to straighten them over time. The beauty of PowerBrace lies in its simplicity and effectiveness, offering a non-intrusive installation process.

Our Production team proceeded to install the PowerBrace to the homeowner's satisfaction. All that was left behind at the completion of the project was reinforced basement walls and a strong foundation.

Basement Waterproofing in Granville, NY

At Adirondack Basement Systems, we pride ourselves on stepping in when homeowners feel at their wits' end with basement problems. Take, for instance, a homeowner in Granville, NY. Their home had one significant issue; water was making unwanted appearances in their basement. Understandably frustrated, they reached out to us for a solution.

Shortly after, a system design specialist conducted a thorough examination of the basement. Upon identifying the source of the problem, a TripleSafe Sump Pump paired with a SaniDry Sedona was recommended to pump water out and keep the air dry. Once the homeowner agreed to the plan, our expert production team went to work with the installation.

The combination of the 2 products working together guaranteed not just to eject water efficiently but to control humidity and create a dry, comfortable basement atmosphere. The transformation post-installation was night-and-day. For the homeowners, understanding that this positive change was not just temporary reassured them greatly.
