Job Stories From Fulton County, NY
Basement Flooring in Broadalbin, NY

The “H” Family of Broadalbin wanted to have a more comfortable and warm basement.  Their basement was partially finished but seemed to always still feel damp and cold.  After attending the Saratoga Home Show and seeing our booth they decided to chat with one of our certified design specialists about making an appointment for an inspection.

Shortly after the home show, an appointment was set for the specialist to come evaluate the basement.  Our specialist decided that having our foreman Chris Hurley install a TripleSafe Sump Pump would be the best bet to get rid of any water.  An external discharge pumps any water collected in the pump out of the home a safe distance away.   To give it that finished look Chris also installed 910 Square feet of Parquet Thermal Dry Flooring.

The “H” family has been very happy and having no issues with water or odor coming into his basement.  It is now a dry and will stay that way for many years to come!

Foundation Repair in Johnstown, NY

A homeowner in Johnstown, NY was experiencing issues with the foundation of his home. He said when he is upstairs it seems to be sloping inwards towards the center of the home and some of the walls are showing signs of cracking. They decided to set up a free estimate with Adirondack Basement Systems and have one of our Design Specialists do a thorough inspection.

Our production team came and installed our Smart Jack reinforcement system for the homeowner to provide new supports and fix the structural issue. The SmartJack system is a better solution to standard beams that are often undersized, and many contractors use wooden posts that can rot, shift and settle. When this happens, floor joists sag and other structural problems occur. Because of its design, the SmartJack can be adjusted over time to provide additional straightening and leveling action if necessary. It is able to support 60,000 lbs and made of galvanized steel to prevent corrosion. Now the homeowner no longer has to worry about the structural integrity of his home.

TripleSafe Sump Pump System Installation

A homeowner in Gloversville, NY had a wet basement with a large vertical crack in the wall causing water seepage. They had tried to repair the cracks with hydraulic cement but that solution proved to be only temporary. Looking for something permanent they contacted Adirondack Basement Systems for a free waterproofing estimate with one of our certified basement waterproofing specialists.

Our design specialist came to the home to do a thorough inspection and found that the homeowner could greatly benefit from a sump system as well as repairing the crack in the wall. A TripleSafe sump system was installed with a battery backup to ensure their basement would always be kept dry even in heavy storms. A perimeter drainage system was installed as well called PolyDrain to direct any water and help create a basin for the crack to drain into. As for fixing the crack itself, we repaired it with FlexiSpan. This product consists of a high-viscosity polyurethane polymer that penetrates and seals the crack while allowing for flexibility. An extra layer of drainage matting is added and then it is sealed over again with the polymer. The homeowner now has a permanent solution to keep their basement dry.

Waterproofing in Caroga Lake, NY

Water seeping through concrete block walls and overall dampness led to this customer contacting us. Our Design Specialist performed a very thorough assessment and proposed a long-term waterproofing solution that consisted of our TripleSafe Sump Pump System. A unique "figure eight" design allows all three submersible pumps to fit perfectly in a single sump liner. With the TripleSafe™ system, you don't have to worry about high pumping demands that can overwhelm or burn out single-pump systems. And if there's a power outage, your TripleSafe™ system will keep operating, thanks to the UltraSump™ battery-powered backup pump.

We also installed a Trench Drain System, which provides an elongated surface for water to drain from a specific area, such as a driveway, beneath an un-guttered roof edge, sidewalk or similar area where water tends to collect. It's essentially a gutter that is set into the ground.

Our Waterguard system collects water from the wall floor joint and directs it to the sump chamber. It sits above the footer to avoid blocking with dirt (as a drain tile system can). A special flange allows water to be collected from the face of the foundation wall into the sub - floor channel.

Thanks to our knowledgable Waterproofing Specialist, we were able to create a permanent solution and transform this damp and musty basement into a clean, dry space.

Waterproofing and Crawlspace Encapsulation in Caroga Lake, NY

Encapsulating your crawl space is important because it will greatly reduce moisture and lower the risk of mold growing significantly. The air will be cleaner, and you now have a convenient and CLEAN storage space as well! We installed our CleanSpace Vapor Barrier, a 20 ml poly-reinforced crawlspace liner which converts your crawl space into a usable storage area for this customer. And with its mold-resistant additive "UltraFresh", CleanSpace® will never support mildew or mold growth on its surface. We also included The SmartSump™, which has a high quality Zoeller 1/3-hp cast-iron pump, with automatic float switch. The lid and unique SuperLiner® sump pump basin are designed to accept the CleanSpace® crawl space vapor barrier system, for an airtight seal. Now this customer's previously muddy, smelly crawlspace has been transformed into a clean, usable storage area!

Buckling Wall Support in Gloversville, NY

The walls of this basement were declining in stability, as evident by the cracks in the concrete and the slight bowing. The homeowner called us and met with one of our experienced design specialists to go over the foundation, gauging the extent of the damage and determining a course of action to alleviate the trouble. With buckling walls like this one, the perfect answer was our product, PowerBraces.

The installation process, like many others, kicks off with a bunch of precise measuring. It’s important to determine exactly where the wall is bowing and how much the displacement is. Also, each PowerBrace is cut to fit from floor to ceiling perfectly so an accurate measurement is key. This pre-planning helps the team map out an effective setup for the PowerBraces. They put tape markers at exact locations for where each PowerBrace will be placed along the affected wall. Next, the PowerBraces are attached to the wall in an evenly spaced series to distribute the weight of the foundation across each foundation stabilizer. The PowerBraces are then tightened to snugly hug the wall and provide ample support to the foundation, keeping the walls from bowing any further. Also, thanks to their ability to be tightened, the walls can even be restored to their original position over time. All in all, PowerBrace is a fantastic, durable, reliable product that does not require any excavation or overtly intrusive installation, giving this homeowner peace of mind sooner rather than later.

Concrete Crawl Space Waterpoofing in Broadalbin, NY

Crawl spaces come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, but their importance remains constant. If your crawl space doesn’t have the proper protection against the elements, then that poor air quality will spread throughout the house—not to mention any damage caused by water in the crawl space sets the home up for rapid deterioration. Most waterproofing jobs for crawl spaces stick to similar principles, but depending on the makeup of the space, slightly different approaches may be required. Since this crawl space had a concrete floor compared to a dirt one, Drainage Matting was required as a base layer before anything else could be done. Laid on top of the Drainage Matting, travelling a bit up the walls was a layer of CleanSpace; a highly effective vapor barrier that keeps invading moisture from pooling. When paired with Drainage Matting, CleanSpace also redirects the water down into the Drainage Matting which then carries it to the other key piece of this installation: the sump pump. If there’s no sump pump present, then the water can’t be sent away. As an added piece of waterproofing, WaterGuards were installed where the walls meet the floor to help redirect incoming water even more effectively. With all these products working like an All-Star team, this crawl space is now nice and dry, giving the homeowner one less thing to worry about!

Insulating a Crawl Space in Northville, NY

Prepping this crawl space to be insulated by CleanSpace began with one of our design specialists going in and looking over the crawl space, seeing what types of issues or damage it was experiencing. Sometimes, if the floors above the crawl space are bouncy or sagging, then SmartJacks will be installed in the crawl space to correct the displacement. Thankfully, the only issue found in this crawl space was some moisture and heat issues and CleanSpace could solve both of these problems! CleanSpace is both a vapor barrier and insulator, keeping moisture out and heat in. The installation team spread CleanSpace along the walls and floor to provide a reliable, durable layer of protection that will keep this crawl space and home healthy for years to come!

Supporting a Deck in Mayfield NY

This Mayfield homeowner noticed that the deck of his home was settling. After doing a thorough web search, he came across Adirondack Basement Systems. When talking to the appointment center to schedule his appointment, he knew that Adirondack Basement Systems would be the best choice to fix his foundation issue.

At the initial estimate appointment, Bill recommended that the installation of Ez posts would be the best solution for this homeowner. The homeowner thought that this was a good solution as well and the next step was to install. The installation crew installed four Ez posts and 20 supplemental beams for extra support. Since the Ez posts are a permeant fix, this homeowner no longer has to worry about his deck collapsing.

Crawl Space Encapsulation in Caroga Lake, NY

A homeowner in Caroga Lake reached out to us at Adirondack Basement Systems because he noticed that her crawl space was wet and had a musty smell. Once scheduled in for an estimate, Jeff went out to assess the crawl space to see what we could do to fix her concerns. Once looking over the area, Jeff suggested that installing a CleanSpace vapor barrier would be most beneficial. On the day of the install, Zach and his crew installed the CleanSpace as well as Rim Joist insulation to keep the heat in the home. After the products were installed, this Caroga Lake homeowner was very happy with her new transformed crawl space.
