Restoring a Basement in Delmar, NY

Challenge

A homeowner in Delmar, NY had a flood in his finished basement that caused extensive water damage. The existing carpet had to be ripped out and the drywall was damaged on the lower half. They were looking to repair the walls and get a new sump pump that they could rely on for the future. We sent one of our design specialists, Jon Roz to assess the damage and provide a free estimate for repairs and waterproofing the basement.

Solution

Upon meeting with the homeowner, Jon went down into the basement to do a thorough inspection. Due to the immense amount of water that originally flooded the basement, he recommended both a SuperSump and a TripleSafe Sump System be installed in different locations. With no perimeter drainage system this would allow for water coming in from multiple areas to be pumped out of the basement. The TripleSafe has three pumps, one being a battery back-up. It also features a sealed liner that prevents sediment and other objects from clogging the pumps. As for the basement walls, Jon recommended our EverLast wall restoration system so that the homeowner could salvage the remainder of their drywall and not have to go through extra demo of removing it entirely. EverLast wall panels are made of inorganic material that is waterproof and is mold resistant. It is highly durable, washable and looks professional as well. During installation our foreman Austin recommended our ThermalDry flooring. Despite concerns of ruining another floor, they were quick to agree that our flooring would be the perfect solution for them. ThermalDry Tiles are inorganic and raised by pegs so even if any water were to seep into the basement, it would be able to drain beneath the tiles and not be ruined or grow mold. Another great feature of this flooring is that the tiles are easily replaced and interchangeable should they need to be. Upon completion of the installation, the homeowner was satisfied with their basement's appearance and security.
