Photo Album: Waterproofing and Foundation Support in Duanesburg, NY

This series of photos showcases a hybrid job involving both waterproofing and foundation support. Often, basement issues are not as simple as being strictly water problems or strictly foundational issues. Typically, there’s crossover and this situation in particular is a good example.   Looking first at the water problem, the two primary products brought in to alleviate the moisture buildup in the basement were a SuperSump and a system of WaterGuards. As you can see by the dark splotches, discoloration, and other blemishes on the walls, water damage had occurred and remained a problem prior to our installation. The WaterGuards attach to where the walls and floor meet, gathering any moisture seeping through either structure and diverts it to the sump pump (in this home’s case, the SuperSump), which does its part by sending it out and away from the home. The SuperSump is a great product to help keep flooding water out of the house. This Sump Pump is reliable and powerful, having the ability to easily handle high-volume pumping, meaning you don’t have to worry even in the heavy downpours. It also comes with a built-in alarm that sounds in the event of a power outage or other emergency where the water level rises beyond the sump pump’s intake, meaning there’s no guesswork when it comes to wondering if your system is functioning properly.  As for the foundational issue, a series of PowerBraces were installed to help stabilize the foundation. PowerBraces are zinc-plated steel beams custom fit specifically to your basement, attaching securely to the walls and anchored at the floor joists. This product is a unique, patented design that not only provides stability, but also gives you the option to tighten them over time and potentially reverse existing wall failure without the need for a huge project involving digging or drilling.  With significant improvements to both the waterproofing and foundation systems, this basement is in much better shape, equipped to take on anything else that may be thrown at it.
