DryTrak and WaterGuard: Which Would your Foundation Require to Keep your Basement Dry?

What is DryTrak?

DryTrak is a surface drainage system designed specifically for homes with monolithic foundations. A monolithic foundation has the floor and footing as one single pour of concrete, making it challenging to install traditional sub-floor drainage systems. Instead of being installed below the floor, DryTrak is mounted directly on top of the basement floor along the perimeter. This allows us to protect the foundation and not have to jackhammer down. Water is collected through small openings at the base of the system and is redirected to a sump pump.

DryTrak Installation to keep a basement in Upstate New York waterproof from heavy rains

Benefits of DryTrak:

  • Ideal for homes with monolithic foundations where traditional drainage systems can't be installed.

  • No need for extensive floor excavation, minimally invasive.

  • Durable and effective in preventing basement water intrusion.

What is WaterGuard?

WaterGuard is an advanced interior drainage system that is installed just below the floor level at the edge of the basement. It features a specially designed drainage channel that captures water seeping in from basement walls and floors, directing it to a sump pump system. Unlike traditional French drains, WaterGuard is engineered to prevent clogging from soil and debris, ensuring long-term reliability.

Benefits of WaterGuard:

  • Installed beneath the floor, making it a discreet and highly effective drainage solution.

  • Engineered to prevent clogging, reducing maintenance concerns.

  • Compatible with different basement wall systems for comprehensive waterproofing.

  • Ideal for basements without monolithic foundations where sub-floor drainage can be installed.

Which System is Right for You?

Choosing between DryTrak and WaterGuard depends on your basement’s foundation type and specific waterproofing needs. If your home has a monolithic foundation, DryTrak is likely the best option since it does not require floor excavation. Monolithic floors are most commonly found in homes built between 1950 and 1970. However, if your basement allows for sub-floor drainage installation, WaterGuard provides a more hidden and highly efficient solution for water control. If you are unsure of your foundation type, one of our Design Specialists can come evaluate your home, advise which system would be best for you, and provide a free estimate for installation.
